"Institutions pay. People are free. Always." — The Banting Principle

Standing on the shoulders of a giant. For my children.

The Institute

Independent research at the intersection of accommodation, technology, and justice. US operations based in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

MachenTagar Research Institute conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of accommodation studies, legal technology, veterans' transition, housing policy, and AI ethics. Our work spans sixteen academic disciplines — producing scholarship, forensic-grade tools, and open methodologies that serve practitioners, communities, and the public interest.

We exist to ensure that the tools and knowledge produced by research reach the people who need them — not just the institutions that can afford them.

US operations are conducted through MachenTagar Research Institute LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company licensed by MachenTagar IP Inc. (Canada). All IP held centrally in Canada; US entity operates under license across all sixteen disciplines.

The Banting Principle

Sir Frederick Banting sold the insulin patent for one dollar so that no child would die from a treatable disease. That act inspired everything we build here. When people face institutional barriers — tribunals they can't navigate, rights they can't enforce, systems designed to exhaust them into silence — we hand them the tools to fight back. Banting tore down the wall between medicine and the people who needed it. We tear down the wall between justice and the people who deserve it.

Forensic-Grade Standards

Forensic-grade standards. PIPEDA-compliant data handling. Local-first architecture. Every output is verifiable, defensible, and privacy-preserving.

Five Departments

Interdisciplinary research, technology development, legal compliance, financial management, and community operations — in parallel.

Legal

Legal Department

Corporate governance, IP licensing, regulatory compliance, tribunal proceedings, and dispute resolution. Manages the institute's IP portfolio and all institutional licensing agreements.

Financial

Financial Department

Corporate accounting, IP valuation, tax planning, lender relations, and grant administration. Maintains portfolio valuations and administers all grant disbursements.

Research

Research Department

Twenty-three papers across sixteen disciplines. Three novel methodologies. Postgraduate thesis development. Emerging researcher mentorship and journal portal administration.

Technology

Technology Department

Seventy-seven browser-native tools on Cloudflare infrastructure. MARCUS forensic advocacy suite. Zero external AI dependency. Forensic-grade provenance on every output.

Operations

Operations Department

Property management, tenant services, community programs, and institutional outreach. On-the-ground delivery of the institute's grant programs and community partnerships.

Novel Methodology

Fourteen methodologies with no existing precedent in the literature.

Double-Blind Autoethnography

The researcher did not know they were researching. The institution did not know it was being studied. Both records produced independently. Freedom of information returns force convergence. No observer effect on either side. No precedent in the qualitative literature.

Iron Gate Doctrine

Dual-direction forensic provenance. Proves what happened AND proves nothing happened. Same cryptographic architecture, same key, same lock, different direction. The proof of absence is as rigorous as the proof of presence.

Forensic Correlation Methodology

Computational provenance linking human direction to machine-assisted output with SHA-256 cryptographic verification. Timestamped, hashed, machine-readable. Institutional licensing available.

The Capability Paradox

Institutional misrecognition of capability does not eliminate capability — it redirects it. The veteran the system failed to accommodate builds accommodation infrastructure for others. The paradox is not theoretical. It is operational.

AI-as-Accommodation

AI as disability accommodation infrastructure. The technology is invisible. The capability is visible. A disabled veteran directing AI to build institutional infrastructure that serves vulnerable populations at scale. The accommodation is the cane. The cane builds the house.

The Sheepdog Model

Protector-based social infrastructure architecture. The sheepdog stands between wolves and flock. Applied to housing, food security, and community development. The infrastructure opens gates. The sheepdog does not bark — the sheepdog pays.

The Murphy Model

Socialist capital reinvestment in housing. Property acquisition to tenant equity to dividend pool to dignity infrastructure to community stability. Every dollar cycles. No value extracted. Every dollar reinvested. The building serves the people who live in it.

The Banting Principle

Institutions pay. People are free. Always. Frederick Banting gave insulin to the world for one dollar. The person who needs it most should never be the person who pays. A moral architecture, not a pricing strategy.

The Handshake Doctrine

Bilateral infrastructure as social justice architecture. Every operation structured as a mutual exchange where both parties benefit. Not charity. Not extraction. Infrastructure that opens doors. Both parties walk away better off.

Double Pincer Forensic Encryption

Dual-key AES-256-GCM encryption protocol with SHA-256 forensic chain of custody. User key and organization key required together. Neither party can access alone. Neither party can tamper undetected. Novel cryptographic provenance architecture.

Blind Talent Rewards

Anti-punitive, bias-free merit assessment. No star ratings. No reviews. Algorithm sees performance data only — no names, no faces, no bias. Rewards good behaviour. Does not punish. Floor is neutral, not negative. Meritocracy by data, not democracy by opinion.

Self-Replicating Education Model

Train, certify, work, teach. The system trains drivers who train civilians who become drivers who train more civilians. Kolb experiential learning meets Vygotsky scaffolding. The education pipeline feeds itself.

Continental Protocol

Security methodology for social housing. Licensable framework for property management, housing providers, and institutional security. Protection architecture scaled from single building to campus.

Wharncliffe Model

Exportable affordable housing template. Municipal-level replicable framework for social enterprise housing provision. Open methodology under Creative Commons. Five Eyes jurisdiction adaptable.
